Castile and León

The Spanish region of Castile and León is located in the northwest corner of Spain, bordering Portugal to the southwest and 9 other regions (Aragon, Asturias, the Basque Country, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, the Community of Madrid, Extremadura, Galicia and La Rioja). Castile and León is the largest autonomous community in Spain however it is sparsely populated, with no official regional capital. Valladolid has therefore been named and treated as the de facto regional capital.

Comprising of 9 provinces (Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid and Zamora), each with its capital named after the associated province, Castile and León has plenty going on.
