When to visit Abruzzo

Abruzzo is a fantastic destination to visit all year around however you should plan your visit around the types of activities that you want to do.

Beaches

During the summer months of June to August you should expect coastal areas to be very busy with the hot and dry Mediterranean climate drawing many people to the beaches.

Hiking/Skiing

If you are looking for a little more adventure then April to October is a fantastic time for hiking with the Apennine Mountains proving to be a very popular choice. Later in the year during December to March you can head to the Appenine Mountains where the ski season will be in full swing.

Culture

Easter months are a great time to visit if you are looking to experience some of the local culture with Catholic festivals and processions taking place throughout the region. In May you should head to the mountain village of Cocullo where there is an unusual snake festival that takes place drawing in visitors from right across the region. Also keep an eye out the Pescara Jazz festival in July.
