Belgium

Belgium is located in northwest Europe bordering the Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg and France. The country comprises of 3 regions – the Flemmish Region (Flanders) in the north which is primarily Dutch-speaking, the Walloon Region to the south which is primarily French-speaking and the Brussels Capital Region which has many languages used. To the east of the country there is also a German-speaking community. Each of the regions is divided in to provinces with the exception of the Brussels Capital Region which comprises of the capital city.

Officially known as the Kingdom of Belgium, the country is well known for the ornate buildings and guildhalls throughout Brussels, the canals of Bruges and the First World War history at Flanders Fields.

Belgium is a popular holiday destination from the UK for city breaks due to its Eurostar connection to London St Pancras from Brussels; the journey time by train is a mere 1 hour 48 minutes.
