Staying At The Fox Hotel & Suites In Banff

Picking the perfect hotel to spend a few nights is always a little stressful. There’s the usual toss up between convenience of location vs price, traditional vs contemporary and whether or not to listen to the few bad experience reviews on TripAdvisor vs going with your gut where it’s more than likely a great place to stay.

During our holiday to Banff we faced all of these decisions and ended up checking into the Fox Hotel & Suites on Banff Avenue.

The Fox Hotel, Banff

First impressions of the hotel were really positive as it fits perfectly into Banff’s surroundings with its timber frame and green roof. It certainly looks like a large inviting chalet from the outside.

We arrived by car and it was incredibly easy to pull into the front driveway and check in before heading into the underground car park.

Once inside, the lobby area is styled as you would expect. There’s a strong exposed wood theme flowing throughout the hotel and also a stone fireplace and plenty of seating; it looks really warm and inviting.

The Fox Hotel Reception Banff

Checking in at reception was really straightforward and no hassle. The staff talked us through everything that Banff has to offer and provided us with a town map to make our stay easier.

As the hotel also offers suites we were given the option to upgrade our room from our standard double. At only a fraction of the cost more we did this to obtain a kitchen area and extra lounging space.

Upgrading to a suite

Upgrading to a suite was well worth the extra money as the space obtained was so much more convenient for us.The lounge area had plenty of seating, a kitchen, large TV and a balcony overlooking the mountains.

In the bedroom the room was clean, comfy, spacious and relaxing – everything you would want and certainly expect. There were also a few entertaining features such as the animal print wallpaper!

Chili’s Mexican Restaurant

On the ground floor of the Fox Hotel & Suites there is a Mexican restaurant called Chili’s. We headed here for dinner one night and the food was delicious. With a huge menu to choose from you are a little spoilt for choice with the options.

I did eventually make a decision on my order and went with the meat and seafood burrito which as shown was served on several platters. More than enough food to keep you going!

Pool & Jacuzzi Facilities!

Now most hotels these days try to offer swimming pool facilities however one of the biggest draws to stay at the Fox Hotel & Suites is where they have created what can only be described as a cave.

The pool is extremely warm and relaxing and has push buttons to turn it into a jacuzzi. There’s also a sauna here along with a weights room just outside, changing room and complimentary towels.

The pool is an exceptional and unique hotel feature that is central to the hotel. The pool has a large hole cut into the roof allowing steam to rise up out of the ground like a hot spring.

Fox Hotel & Suites review

The Fox Hotel & Suites is certainly not the most contemporary place to stay in Banff however it fits perfectly into bits surroundings which it’s style. The hotel was clean, comfortable and more than adequate for the duration of our stay and we certainly didn’t experience any issues at all.

As a final bonus if you ask at reception you can borrow a can of bear spray for a small deposit which is fully refundable when you return it (hopefully) unused!

We loved our stay at the Fox Hotel & Suites and are sure you will too!
