Paris, The Most Romantic City In The World?

I often sit quietly with my thoughts on an evening or day dream through 2 hour long monotonous meetings at work about travel. And this leads to an internal debate with more questions presented than answers – initial questions lead to sub questions and then a cascade of scenarios! If I had more money, would I travel more luxuriously and for longer? If I travelled more luxuriously would I become detached from a real and “raw” travel experience? If I became detached from real travel experiences would I really have experienced anything at all? What is a happy balance of spend, luxury and duration of travel?

There are many questions that I simply don’t have the answer to and of course every person will have their own personalised answers based on their own desires, budgets, motivations and previous experiences.

One set of questions that I always come back to however are a bit more down to earth and simple with things like where is the best place for a city break in Europe? How long do I need to travel around Australia? However I also like to review common questions that have been around for years to see if I agree. For example, what is the most romantic city in the world?

What is the most romantic city in the world?

Now if you research this question there really isn’t a wide range of answers that come up. The common responses here are Paris, Venice and Rome. Luckily I have been to all 3 of these fantastic cities and without a shadow of a doubt I have to agree with the status quo that the most romantic city in the world is, and I believe will continue to be for decades to come, Paris.

Paris

There is something about Paris that quickly draws you in to its culture and makes you fall in love with it. Perhaps it’s the French language that rolls off the tongue and has been portrayed through the film industry for years as sexy and seductive? Perhaps it’s the history and associated all encompassing renaissance architecture at every turn? The draw of the famous artworks in the museums?

The beauty of the historic gardens?

Jardins du Luxembourg

The beauty of the Avenue des Champs-Elysees?

The romance of the Eiffel Tower?

Whatever it is, being in Paris with your partner just makes you feel a little bit, well… romantic.

I have visited Paris 5 times over the years and it’s the romance of it all that keeps drawing me back. I mean what’s not to love about a romantic stroll or boat trip along the Seine passing Notre Dame?

Or an evening walk up to Montmartre to see the Sacre-Coer?

There’s so much to do here and so many places to enjoy that special someone that you certainly don’t run out of options. Personally I could return to Paris every year and enjoy this wonderfully romantic city over and over again. For me, Paris is by far the most romantic city in the world.

Have you been to Paris? Would you agree that it’s the most romantic city? We’d love to hear your thoughts, let us know in the comments!
