Staying At L’Hermitage, Vancouver’s #1 Rated Hotel

The final stop on the Ambition Earth team’s fortnight in Canada was Vancouver and what better way to enjoy the city than to stay in the top rated hotel in the city (according to TripAdvisor), L’Hermitage.

Boutique Room

For the duration of our stay we were booked into a boutique room which was excellent. The room was spacious, clean around the edges and very nicely presented. As a standard hotel feature we had a large TV and a desk however additionally we had a well presented seating area, an electric fire and a balcony with views down to the Vancouver Lookout at Harbour Centre.

Bathroom

The bathroom at L’Hermitage was impressive. With both a wall-sized mirror and makeup mirror available this allowed the both of us to get ready simultaneously without jostling for position like often happens at hotels.

Room Facilities

Within the room there were a number of facilities available, the first of which being the expected in 2017 coffee machine and capsules, in this case, Nescafe.

The L’Hermitage also provided a ChargePort which is a great touch as it allowed us to use USB charging without having to mess about with our UK plug adaptors.

Another nice touch from the L’Hermitage hotel team was the welcome note and box of Lindt chocolates to greet us on arrival giving an extra special feeling of being a valued guest.

Room Service

As we arrived at the hotel quite late in the evening we opted to order some food from the late night in-house dining menu – the lamb curry and chicken pasta, along with some drinks.

The pasta was OK however unfortunately this curry really wasn’t very enjoyable. The lamb curry was essentially a watery soup with some lamb pieces thrown in – it tasted like it wasn’t made fresh and had been microwaved, if not then the hotel needs to re-evaluate the recipe. Other food on the menu may be OK however we certainly wouldn’t recommend the curry if you’re staying here.

Hotel Facilities

The hotel boasts a number of great facilities including the usual gym and conference facilities etc. One of their key selling points however is the outdoor heated salt water pool on the rooftop. Additionally the hotel boasts L’Orangerie which is a casual lounge serving food and drinks.

Overall Impression

Our stay at L’Hermitage was a really positive one whereby we enjoyed every minute. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful, the room was excellently presented and as the hotel was so centrally located in Vancouver it allowed for easy access to the entire city.

The L’Hermitage is currently rated the #1 rated hotel in Vancouver on TripAdvisor and we can see why this would be the case. With the exception of the food quality via room service we couldn’t fault it. Make sure you book L’Hermitage on your next stay in the city.
