The White House, the Christmas Tree, the Capital Building and the Washington Monument certainly all stand out however something that the city has an abundance of are Washington’s memorials. Ranging from war memorials to those of former presidents the city has a huge number to explore with one of our favourites being the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is located on the Tidal Basin and much like the Lincoln Memorial is instantly recognisable. Completed in 1943 the Memorial was dedicated by President Roosevelt on the 200th anniversary of Jefferson’s birthday.

Walking to the memorial from either side of the basin offers a fantastic view of its key features so there isn’t really a “better” way to see it.

Aside from seeing the memorial itself, as it is located on the tidal basin you should find one of the benches around it or indeed the steps out the front and enjoy the views back across Washington D.C. or the building itself.
